To put it bluntly: we don’t believe that the best sailor is automatically also the best measurer, designer, loftmanager and sailmaker. While there are rare cases where true all-rounders exists, they are the exception, not the rule. In some classes, a specific sailmaker may have designed the perfect sail used by a winning sailor—but with further digitalization these examples are on the verge of extinction. For 99.9% of the cases combining expertise from multiple specialists simply leads to better sails.

FLYER SAILS assembles an elite crew of sailing specialists. Our deck is staffed with Olympic competitors, Ocean Race participants and veterans, undefeated club champions and seasoned yachtsmen who live and breathe the maritime life. On the helm we have a dedicated back office of accomplished designers and sailmakers with decades of experience. Armed with cutting-edge software and premium materials, they make sails that consistently outperform expectations. Every member of the FLYER SAILS team understands the art of sailing and what's expected of sails in various settings. Our logistic managers are in close contact with our Sri Lankan OEM loft to ensure a smooth order flow.

We don't want you shopping around for the cheapest sail, so we don't either. We partner with a single loft in Sri Lanka—an established facility that produces for some of the world’s largest brands as well as for several mid-sized sailmakers like ourselves since 1986. Of the more than 2,000 employees, the majority focus on surf sails and kites. We benefit from the expertise of around 300 skilled men and women in the sailmaking division.

Our parent company, Perfect Boat Cover, and our sister company, Marin'R, have been working with this loft since 2019. Compared to other sailmaking regions, working conditions in Sri Lanka are significantly better—and this loft stands out even further.
